Orbital Considerations in Kankoh-Maru Return Flight Operations

Abstract:	In the first phase of the Space Tourism Study Program of the Japanese Rocket Society, the VTOL reference-vehicle "Kankoh-maru" was designed to carry 50 passengers to low Earth orbit. While the initial service was specified to be a flight comprising two orbital revolutions, market research showed that flights to and from accommodation in orbit will be needed in order for the market for space tourism services to reach its full potential.
